Gordie Hershiser brings over 25 years of coaching experience to the Chandler Baseball organization. A 4-time draftee, between high school, Indian River Community College (LA Dodgers, Detroit Tigers, St. Louis Cardinals and Montreal Expos). Coach Gordie eventually signed and played professionally (Pitcher) with the Los Angeles Dodgers organization from 1987-1990.
After graduating from the University of Alabama with a Degree in Communications, Hershiser started a 12-year run as a sportscaster throughout the country before settling in Castle Rock, Colorado where he resumed his coaching career at Castle View High School. In 2012 Hershiser relocated to Orlando, Florida where he was brought on by the Orlando Hardknox baseball organization, in 2014 that organization partnered with David Chandler and Chandler Baseball to develop its first-ever youth program, Team Chandler.
Coach Gordie brings a tremendous level on enthusiasm, passion and knowledge of the game to players with a strong focus on details and development in all phases of the game.
Clyde Williams started playing baseball at the age of 13. His love for the game was the driving force over the next 5 years propelling him from the worst player on his first team to one of the top prospects in the country at the age of 18.
He was drafted out of Seminole HS in Sanford FL in the 3rd rd (81st overall) in 1998. Over the next 13 season he earned many different awards including the Montreal Expos player of the month 4 times, 2 all star game appearances, 2005 & 2006. In 2006 he was named the Atlantic league all star game MVP and crowned the HR derby champion.
He played the game with passion and determination following his dreams to the age of 31.
Since retiring he has been coaching baseball and has helped many young players realise their baseball dreams. His career path now is to help build the Chandler baseball program and guide as many players through their journey as possible. Baseball has been a big part of Clyde's life since he was 13 and it is still one of the biggest influences in his life. The passion, determination and focus needed to make it to the top levels of the game are a big part of what gives him an upper hand in teaching the boys what it really takes to make their dreams a reality.
Jason Slattery is the Founder, General Manager and Head of Baseball Operations for Chandler Baseball. This includes teams ranging from 10U to 17U nationally. Originally the founder of the Orlando Hardknox in 2012, Slattery has built Chandler Baseball and it's youth division (Team Chandler) from the ground up, ultimately developing it to where it is today, 10+ teams, over 120+ players. Slattery's early success, coupled with his vision for the Chandler baseball program is what drove David Chandler (founder/owner/CEO of Chandler Bats) to partner with Slattery to take Chandler baseball to another level.
A former professional baseball player and D1 collegiate baseball and football player, John specializes in both physical and mental player development of pro, collegiate and amateur baseball and softball players as well as recruitment consultation for high school and draft-eligible athletes.
Since 2004, John Denny has helped MLB, MiLB, collegiate and amateur athletes and teams attain goals and reach maximum potential. John believes that there is no one hitting method or program that works for everyone and uses his 10+ years of experience assessing and coaching hitters to teach individuals a physical and mental approach that works best for them.
John offers one-on-one lessons, team instruction, and strength, speed and agility training from his Orlando-area indoor facility. He also offers Skype lessons for those outside of the area that want to benefit from his instruction. Justin McKay works directly with scouts as well as other MLB Alumni to align elite amateur baseball players in nationally ranked Chandler World team(s) with D1 or MLB Draftees level of student-athletes. Coach McKay plays a lead role in player recruitment and selection. The overall Chandler network is suited to develop a high level of execution that is geared not only toward securing draft status and college placement, but also future growth and upward movement through those systems. Coach McKay also serves as a successful Division I recruiting coordinator & hitting coach for Fairleigh Dickinson University and was hired to the NTIS Task Force for the 2015 USA Baseball 18u National Team. Recruiting year round for prospective student athletes, Coach McKay has successfully recruited in 32 states, Canada & Dominican Republic, netting Chandler over 30 players ranked with #1 or #2 at their position in their state; In addition, guiding quality players for FDU that have reached the NEC playoffs 2 out of the last 4 years.
